HPV (Human Papillomavirus) Campaign
Introduction |
How to Use the Toolkit |
Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is a virus that can infect our bodies like other viruses. In most people, an HPV infection clears in a year or two. For others, it may linger and lead to further complications, including genital warts, precancer and cancer. It is a very common virus that infects 85% of people in their lifetime.
The HPV virus can lead to several types of cancer, including cervical oropharyngeal (mouth and throat), anal (buttock), vulvar and vaginal (female genital), and cancers of the penis (male genitals). HPV vaccination is recommended for all children, teens and young adults, 11-12 years old through 26 years old, both male and female. The HPV vaccine may also be given as early as age 9 years old. Older adults, 27 through 45 years old, may also choose to get an HPV vaccine. HPV vaccine prevents cancer due to HPV-related infections. Millions of doses of the HPV vaccine have been given to children, teens and young adults for over 15 years in the US and around the world. It is safe, and it works!! Vertical Divider

The information provided in this toolkit will serve as a resource as you work to promote healthy living and vaccine confidence in your communities. The toolkit amplifies pro-vaccination efforts and strategies and is designed to equip public health and healthcare professionals and their partners with talking points and resources for discussing HPV vaccination with parents of children and adolescents and with adult patients.
The social media graphics and messages provided in these toolkits will help you to promote vaccination on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter. Each post has been designed specifically for each platform and will fall within the platform's specifications. If there are other platforms you want to use, you can adjust the messages to fit the requirements of that platform. We encourage you to tailor the messages in this toolkit to your specific audiences or add recognizable hashtags your audience follows. The talking points are intended for use by trusted messengers during conversations with patients and community members. Talking points are most effective when you use your language to share the basic information laid out in the points in the style of speech that is both expected and best understood by your audience. |
